Hop Back Brewery’s multi-award winning Summer Lightning celebrated its 18th birthday this May – and even got it own coming of age party!

In 1992 Summer Lightning gained the first of many awards. This was the prestigious CAMRA Gold Medal for Best Strong Beer in Britain (which it won again in 2001) and from there it has never looked back, winning more than 70 awards to date.
Today Summer Lightning is not only a cask ale, but also comes bottle conditioned and in an eight pint mini cask. It can be enjoyed in pubs across the country, bought in supermarkets and off licences. It can even be delivered direct to the door by mail order. All of which shows just how richly it deserved its own, very special birthday party.
Hop Back Brewery Sales and Marketing Manager Greig Futcher said, “We organised Summer’s 18th party at Salisbury Arts Centre, just a stone’s throw from its birthplace at the Wyndham Arms. It seemed like the perfect tribute to a legend among beers. Everyone was more than happy to raise a glass in celebration – filled with Summer Lightning, of course!”
